Nowrouz is always an important part of life for Iranians and the starting point of every year on the calendar of life. As spring begins, people come together to celebrate and take the opportunity to get closer.
Iran and Iranians have a life full of celebrations and holidays. Even after the arrival of Islam and the change in their religion and customs, the interest in celebrating and enjoying their lives has not gone away. In recent years, with the rise of media influence in the public opinion of the world, Muslims in general and Iranians in particular have been presented as frustrated, upset and unpredictable during their religious ceremonies.
But they are the same people who wrote and lived at the stories of One Thousand and One Nights. However, in the translation, after the Arab invasion of Iran, the stories about Shiraz and Isfahan have been renamed to Baghdad and Damascus.
Ancient Iranians have always been happy and stomp in poetry and myths, and modern Iranians are taking every opportunity to do so. But Nowrouz …
Nowrouz is the day that Amu Nowrouz (Uncle Nowrouz) returns to the land at the beginning of spring after a year and returns from his long and arduous journey to visit his beloved wife, Nane Sarma.
Nane Sarma awaits the return of Amu Nowrouz every year after Yalda night and the onset of winter. She cleans and manages the house to be ready for her beloved husband to come.
Sometimes, when she is tired, she sits on the porch of the house and sighs out of despair that snow fall on the downstream people. Winter cold burner is the sighs of Nane Sarma’s gloom.
The coming day, she prepares everywhere and the house becomes the lovers’ house. She sits on the porch of her house on top of the mountain, waiting for his beloved Amu Nowrouz. But she gets tired of sleeping.
Amu Nowrouz comes and sees his mistress sleeping on the porch. He sits next to her and caresses her. Amu Nowrouz has to travel again, so he kisses on his beloved cheek and moves on. That kiss is the warmth of our existence in the New Year.
Nane Sarma wakes up and feels the smell of Amu Nowrouz. But she does not see him and understands that Amu Nowrouz is on a journey again. So Nane Sarma sits again, waiting for the next Nowrouz to see her beloved husband.
In our childhood, the story is told differently. Nane Sarma was the queen of coldness and hardness, and Amu Nowrouz came to war with Nane Sarma every year. On the day of Nowruz, She fails, and Amu Nowrouz’s victory causes the plants to emerge and return to life on earth. Nane Sarma also escapes to save her strength until next year when Amu Nowrouz goes on a journey.
But among all these, I like another story. The first story says that if one day Nane Sarma and Amu Nowrouz come together, that day will be the end of the world.
But for me and many others, Nane Sarma and Amu Nowrouz meet each other every day of Nowruz, embracing and kissing each other for tight months. They live together for several months until Amu Nowrouz travels to work again.
Nane Sarma misses her beloved husband, waits, and manages everything in the absence of Amu Nowrouz. When she misses, she comes to the porch and looks at the mountains with snow-white shadows on them.
She sighs as the snow on the mountain shakes down the mountain in grain. Snow falls on people down the mountain and the kids play on the snow. The laughter of the children becomes the warmth of joy in the heart of Nane Sarma on the mountain.
She waits for Amu Nowrouz to return from the trip and celebrate again together on New Year’s Day.
Stories will be as we believe them, and the beauty or the ugliness of life is something in our hearts and minds. If we extend love further, life will be prettier.
